Finding an estate agent can be tricky but we went with Perry Bishop in Faringdon as we’d heard good things. I must say we were impressed from the start with their knowledge, professionalism and honesty. They sold our house for us fairly stress free and kept us up to date along the way. I would use them again to sell our house if we were to sell again.

Abigail W – February 2024

Team were very communicative and responsive with information, questions and queries. Particularly liked the service where the sale is forwarded onto a distinct individual to manage and keep all parties updated to the very end. The team even provided us with a moving in pack of essential items. Keep up the great work.

Alun O – February 2024

Many thanks to the team at Perry Bishop in Faringdon.  We had a very protracted sale where the chain broke twice and it was only thanks to Michelle’s perseverance and tenacity that we got it over the line the third time. She was a mistress of calm and the smoothing of waters. No obstacle was too great not to be moved. When I was ready to throw in the towel, Michelle was always there with a Plan B, C and D. There were times I’m sure when it must have felt like she was spending 80% of her time just on us. Thank you Michelle.
I’d also like to thank Gerry for her excellent negotiating skills and a special shout-out to Abby who, although not directly involved in our sale, always seemed to have a handle on what was going on, was unfailingly friendly and welcoming on the phone, and always always always passed on messages and/or got back to us.

Faringdon guide

This historic market town lies at the edge of the Cotswolds, midway between Oxford and Swindon, in the Vale of the White Horse.

About Faringdon

Faringdon is known for its 100ft Folly Tower, the last major folly to be built in England, which offers fine views across five counties. It was commissioned in the 1930s by the eccentric Lord Berners who lived in Faringdon House. “The great point of the Tower is that it will be entirely useless,” he declared. With the Ridgeway to one side and the River Thames to the other, this attractive and thriving Oxfordshire Town is surrounded by beautiful countryside.

Local amenities in Faringdon

The town boasts a fantastic selection of primary and secondary schools, including Faringdon Infants & Junior School and Faringdon Community College. In the surrounding villages, there’s a choice of good primary schools, along with St Hugh’s Prep School in Carswell and Pinewood School in nearby Shrivenham. This makes the area a very popular choice for people with young families.

Faringdon offers a good range of shops, with three supermarkets on the outskirts of town, and many well supported independent shops, cafes and restaurants in the centre. Floyds Grill, Las Chicas, The Bell, The Narrows and the Gin to my Tonic bar are all well-loved, the latter also hosts a gin festival at nearby Sudbury House Hotel. The town also hosts weekly markets that take place on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Leisure and activities in Faringdon

In Faringdon, there’s a choice of great sports facilities, including Better Leisure Centre, football, rugby, tennis and cricket clubs as well as cycling and running groups.

A local drama society stages productions throughout the year and there’s a community choir and very active Rotary group. The highlight of the year is Faringdon FollyFest, a summer music festival held in the town centre and sponsored by Perry Bishop.

At Christmas, the community comes together to watch Father Christmas ride into town on Thomas the Tank Engine to turn on the Christmas lights – a sight to be seen to be believed!

Transport links in Faringdon

The town has easy access and great transport links to Oxford, Swindon and the surrounding villages. There’s a great train service into London from Swindon train station which is only a short drive away.
